About Us

The Howard Whittemore Memorial Library, which is located at 243 Church Street in Naugatuck, CT, was designed by the renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White. It was commissioned by John Howard Whittemore in1894 in memory of his son, John Howard Whittemore, Jr. The Whittemore Library was a gift to the town and its citizens, and it continues to serve and satisfy the expanding needs of a growing and changing community.
